Co-host Joy Behar appeared to inadvertently announce that ABC’s daytime talk show The View will be going on hiatus during Thursday morning’s live episode, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.
Behar made the comment near the end of the July 25 broadcast while speaking about the show’s schedule.
“And before we go on hiatus — we only have one more show after this. I’m allowed to say that, right?” Behar asked.

Alyssa Farah Griffin, another panelist on the show, responded, “Too late now,” indicating the announcement had not been cleared for air.
ABC has not officially confirmed the details of the upcoming break. It is unclear whether Behar’s remarks referred to The View’s typical summer hiatus or an additional break in programming. No formal statement has been issued by the network as of Thursday afternoon.
The slip comes amid broader shakeups in network television, including the confirmed cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert by CBS.
That show, hosted by Colbert since 2015, is set to end following its next season in May 2026. CBS cited financial reasons for the decision, with reports indicating the show was losing approximately $40 million annually before the network made the call to cancel it.

Colbert’s show has been part of CBS’s late-night programming lineup for nearly a decade. Industry sources said viewership decline and high production costs were among the key contributors to the financial losses.
The unexpected announcement from Behar adds to speculation around the stability of legacy media talk shows, many of which have faced ratings declines and budgetary scrutiny in recent years.

While The View has traditionally taken a break during the summer months, Behar’s phrasing sparked immediate reactions on social media, with viewers questioning whether this hiatus might extend beyond the standard seasonal pause.
The View debuted in 1997 and remains one of ABC’s flagship daytime programs. Joy Behar has been a longtime co-host, known for her outspoken commentary, particularly on political matters.
As of now, the show’s final broadcast before the break is expected to air Friday, July 26. ABC has not provided additional details on when new episodes will resume.
