Protesters crowded outside a Zara in Bristol, United Kingdom, on March 14 to protest the fast-fashion retailer for allegedly rejecting a teenager seeking refuge before she was beaten by her peers.
Signs and chants with slogans such as “Where were you?,” “shopping should be safe” and “children over profits” were shared by the roughly 20 people outside the Zara, according to Bristol Live. The protest occurred after a girl was hospitalized following the alleged failure of Zara employees to step in and offer protection from her assailants. The teen’s father alleged his daughter was first approached at a bus stop before being followed and harassed by a group of 25 people for 25 minutes, according to the BBC. She was unable to receive service at the bus stop before trying and failing to secure refuge at the Zara location, after which she was attacked, according to the father.
“I just feel like she was failed, I really do,” he said.
Authorities suspect the video was filmed and shared on social media due to the “school wars” trend, according to the BBC. Avon and Somerset Police recently warned parents about the trend encouraging students to fight each other, the outlet reported.
A large protest was organized yesterday in front of a Zara store in Bristol after its staff refused a young girl to take shelter in the store as she was being followed and attacked by a large multicultural mob.
After being forced out of the store, she was beaten to a pulp.

Footage appears to show the teenage girl being cornered as the alleged attackers count down and begin hitting her until she is on the ground. The alleged attackers then begin to kick her at the same time stomping on her as she remains in the fetal position, according to the footage.
The victim’s father said his daughter eventually found refuge when a group of students took her into their flat, the BBC reported. He said she had not been attending school and had not spoken since she was attacked.
“I had a couple of days where I’ve gone to work and sat in my van,” the father, who has seen the video, said, according to the BBC. “I couldn’t even work. I couldn’t get out.”
Avon and Somerset Police have announced arrests in connection with the incident. “A 12-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl have been arrested on suspicion of affray, while three others — a 14-year-old girl, a 13-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl — were arrested on suspicion of various offences including affray, racially aggravated fear of violence and grievous bodily harm with intent.”
A statement from a Zara UK spokesperson to Bristol Live said the company’s thoughts are with the girl, acknowledged that she was in their store for a short period of time and said it was assisting police with their investigation.
