Parliament Hiring ‘Savings Director’ For £103,000
Last month, the House of Commons Executive Board rolled out a new “savings and improvement programme”, announcing plans to slash catering and trim back café and restaurant opening hours across the Parliamentary estate. To lead this brave new era of belt-tightening, Parliament is advertising for a “Programme Director of the Savings and Improvement Programme” – on a cool £103,425 annual salary. Write your own jokes…
The lucky hire will be tasked with:
- Prioritising functions and areas where efficiencies should be sought, including cross-cutting areas of expenditure and areas of duplication.
- Determining efficiency targets for teams.
- Identifying areas to invest to save.
- Monitoring progress against targets and reporting to the Commons Executive Board and Member-led bodies as required.
- Remaining aware of pressures on Government and the wider public sector and align the House’s approach where possible.
Naturally, the role comes with a generous 28.97% pension contribution and of course offers “flexible working”. For that you could:
- Fill 1,436 potholes.
- Hire two new Met Police officers.
- Buy nine unmarked police cars.
