Podcaster Patrick Bet-David predicted during Monday’s episode of the “PBD Podcast” that Democrats would “build up” President Donald Trump in the 2028 campaign to defeat Vice President J.D. Vance.
Bet-David’s prediction came after comedian and podcaster Adam Carolla predicted that Vance would win the 2028 election, citing successes by Trump, including the radical Islamic terrorist group Hamas releasing the 20 surviving hostages taken during the Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attack on multiple locations in southern Israel on Monday after Trump brokered a peace deal between the terrorist group and Israel. Bet-David predicted that Democrats would try to argue that Vance couldn’t match Trump’s accomplishments.. (RELATED: Brit Hume Says Trump ‘Should Be Shoo-In’ For Nobel Prize)
“Well, here’s what I think: If Trump keeps racking up victories, I mean, it’s only been nine or ten months, you know, but if he keeps stopping wars or conflicts and returning hostages, if he keeps racking up victories, and that’s the direction we seem to be going, a lot of winning, then the next guy just has to be an extension of Trump, and we’ll just… someone’s going to go, I want to keep this trajectory and this motion going in this direction,” Carolla said after predicting Vance would likely win. “But you have to have victories, and you have to have momentum, and you have to have positivity.”

After some back and forth among the co-hosts and Carolla over whether Vance would have an easy victory, with co-host Adam Sosnick predicting that Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom of California would not only be the Democratic nominee but would win the election, Bet-David weighed in.
“I would, actually, if I was advising the Democrats, when it is the last six months, I’m not talking about [the] primary, I’m talking general election,” Bet-David said. “During the general election, you’re going to hear Democrats talk about that J.D. Vance isn’t Trump. They’re going to build up Trump. You’re going to see in the weirdest way, they’re going to campaign towards how amazing Trump is and that doesn’t mean J.D. is Trump. It’s not. That’s what they’re going to do. But you’re not going to see it till about June of, July of 2028.”
Newsom led among Democratic primary voters among potential 2028 candidates with 21%, according to a Yahoo/YouGov poll conducted from Aug. 29 to Sept. 2 that sampled Democrats and left-leaning independents. Former Vice President Kamala Harris was second in that poll with 19%, while Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York coming in third with 12%.
Vance is seen as a prohibitive favorite for the Republican nomination in 2028, leading potential GOP candidates with 47% of the vote according to the RealClearPolling average, receiving 47%, while Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are in a tight race for second place.
