Patrick Morrisey Continues Fight For Female Sports As Male Athlete Tries To Steal Championship Glory Away From Girls

Here we go again… But the ol’ governor isn’t putting up with it.

West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey promised to continue his fight to provide protection for female sports as a transgender (biological male) athlete attempted to steal glory away from girls during the state championship meet.

Becky Pepper-Jackson is a 13-year-old freshman who attends Bridgeport Senior High School, and he’s been a heavy topic in a Supreme Court case regarding his eligibility in female sports. In the meet, Pepper-Jackson tallied a third place finish in the discus event, while in the shot put competition, he finished eighth, according to Fox News.

“A boy is currently competing in girls’ sports at the high school state track meet in West Virginia,” published Morrisey in a Facebook post. “It’s wrong and unfair. I’m again urging officials to keep separate scores so that the true winners can be awarded once we win in court. We will not stop fighting to protect girls’ sports.”

West Virginia attempted to pass a law in 2023 that would have banned trans athletes from being able to participate in female sports, but it ended up being blocked in a federal appeals court. The court’s reasoning for the law not going through is because of Pepper-Jackson being a transgender girl who is middle-school aged, and they also cited him taking puberty-blocking medication and identifying as a female since he was in third grade.

Since that time, West Virginia put in an appeal to the Supreme Court regarding the ruling from the federal appeals court.
