Pennsylvania Governor’s Residence Torched in Middle of the Night [WATCH]

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and his family were forced to evacuate the governor’s residence early Sunday morning after a fire broke out, which authorities now believe was deliberately set.

The incident occurred at the state’s executive mansion in Harrisburg just hours after the family had observed the first night of Passover.

No injuries were reported, but officials confirmed that part of the building sustained significant damage.

In a post on X, Shapiro shared that he and his family were awakened by officers alerting them to the fire.

“Thank God no one was injured and the fire was extinguished,” Shapiro wrote.

“Every day, we stand with the law enforcement and first responders who run towards danger to protect our communities. Last night, they did so for our family – and Lori and I are eternally grateful to them for keeping us safe.”

The Pennsylvania State Police confirmed the incident is being treated as a criminal investigation.

“While the investigation is ongoing, the State Police is prepared to say at this time that this was an act of arson,” authorities stated.

The state police and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner are working jointly on the case.

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.

Investigators are asking members of the public to come forward with any information that could assist in identifying the suspect.

Gov. Shapiro, a first-term Democrat who took office in 2023, has been mentioned as a possible contender in the 2028 presidential race.

His handling of state emergencies and national political presence has brought him into broader public attention beyond Pennsylvania.

At this time, there is no indication that the fire was politically motivated.

Authorities have not commented on any possible security implications related to the governor’s safety or changes to his protection detail following the incident.

The Pennsylvania governor’s residence, located in Harrisburg, has long served as the official home for the state’s sitting governor and their family.

The building regularly hosts events and is protected by a full-time security team.

The investigation remains active, and officials are urging anyone with tips to contact Pennsylvania State Police or submit information through the state’s anonymous crime tip line.

No updates have yet been provided regarding damage assessments or how the fire may affect the governor’s public schedule.
