I need to start collecting cards again … it used to be such a fun hobby.
For a lot of us, it’s only temporary as our interest in it goes away after a couple of years. But if you ask Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Matt Strahm, he’s still collecting cards here in his adulthood and doing so as a Major Leaguer to boot. But it’s not just the fact that he’s still a card collector that makes it interesting, it’s the kind of cards — Pokémon. Speaking with YouTube reporter Tyler Boronski, Strahm took part in an interview at LoanDepot Park in Miami, the home of the Marlins, and revealed that he’s a huge Pokémon card collector. The 33-year-old even prefers them over baseball cards, and he gave a hilariously grade-A reason as to why.
“People always ask me when they’re getting into cards, for an investment, what would you invest in. I always tell them Pokémon is the safest investment,” said Strahm. “They look at me like I have a third eye, and I go, ‘Pikachu is not gonna tear his ACL and miss the whole season. Charizard is not gonna get a DUI driving home.’ That’s not gonna happen.”

I’m not familiar with who Tyler Boronski is, but kudos to him for setting the vibes up in this interview. I mean, damn, talking about Pokémon cards while in Miami is already cool enough, and then on top of that, he did it with a Major Leaguer?
And not to mention this was all happening in a Major League stadium … props to Mr. Boronski.
