Play That Will Leave You Utterly Confused Has Gotta Be One Of Wildest In All-Time MLB Playoff History

What the hell did I just watch?

During the fourth inning Monday of NLCS Game 1 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers, the latter turned one hell of a double play in what was a scoreless game at the time. As a result, it was the first official knock towards an opponent in the National League Championship Series, and boy oh boy, just wait until you see it. At first, it looked like the hit from the Dodgers was going to be a grand slam at American Family Field, but the Brewers unbelievably flipped the script in an 8-6-2 double play. It was absolutely unreal.

Things kicked off with Milwaukee right fielder Sal Frelick sprinting and jumping after a deep shot towards center field from Los Angeles third baseman Max Muncy. Rather than catching it, however, the ball ended up bouncing off Frelick’s glove and back into it off the wall, which resulted in the play not being ruled a catch.

Los Angeles’ runners were absolutely confused when it came to their base-running situation.

The toss from Frelick was relayed to home plate, which saw Dodgers right fielder Teoscar Hernandez get out. Afterwards, Milwaukee catcher William Contreras ran over to third to tag out Los Angeles second baseman Tommy Edman. Because of the force-out, the runner didn’t have to tag up a second time.

If it sounds chaotic, well, it was.

And this is exactly why we love baseball in October, folks … wow.
