Authorities identified Patrick Joseph White, 30, of Kennesaw, Ga. as the shooter who killed police officer David Rose, 33, on the Emory University campus.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation posted on X Saturday morning, “Patrick Joseph White, age 30, of Kennesaw, GA is the suspected shooter in the incident that occurred on Clifton Rd. near the Emory University campus.” (RELATED: Active Shooter Reportedly At Emory University’s Atlanta Campus)

Police believe that White was sick and blamed his illness on the COVID-19 vaccine, a law enforcement official told CNN.
The shooting occurred near the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Starting at 5:33 p.m. Friday, Emory University began issuing active shooter alerts on its X profile, urging students to shelter in place and avoid the area. Late Friday night, Emory officials said they were working to verify facts about the shooter.
White killed Rose, who leaves behind his pregnant wife and two children.
“It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Officer David Rose who was tragically killed in the line of duty,” the DeKalb County Police Department posted on Facebook. “Officer Rose served DeKalb County with courage, integrity, and unwavering dedication. Even in the face of danger was he diligent in his duty to protect our community. We extend our deepest condolences to Officer Rose’s family, friends, fellow DeKalb County officers, and law enforcement community during this most difficult time.”
