Prince Harry Draws Boos After Remark About Trump During ‘Late Show’ Appearance [WATCH]

Prince Harry drew boos from the audience during an appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Wednesday night, after taking a swipe at President Donald Trump in a scripted exchange that aired from the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City, as reported by The New York Post.

Harry interrupted Colbert’s opening monologue as the host joked about Christmas movies featuring royalty. The moment came just hours after reports that Harry’s father-in-law, Thomas Markle, had been hospitalized for emergency surgery.

As he walked onto the stage, Harry said, “I genuinely thought this was the audition for the Gingerbread Prince saves Christmas in Nebraska.”

Harry went on to joke that he was interested in acting because of how “obsessed” Americans were with Christmas movies and with royalty.

Colbert pushed back on the claim, jokingly denying that Americans were focused on the British monarchy. That led to Harry’s jab at the president.

“Really? I heard you elected a king,” he said, prompting boos and groans from the audience. Colbert responded, “That’s a fair point, no, he’s got a point.”

Harry added another reference to American history, noting that Americans “often [make] such a big deal about my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather George III,” the British monarch during the Revolutionary War.

Trump — mentioned repeatedly but never by name — appeared again in Harry’s list of what he would do to land a fictional Hallmark-style role in Colbert’s skit.

“I’ll record a self-tape, I’ll fly myself to an audition, settle a baseless lawsuit with the White House. All the things you people on TV do,” Harry said, referencing CBS’s $16 million settlement with Trump earlier this year.

“Hey, Harry, I didn’t do any of those things,” Colbert replied. Harry responded, “Maybe that’s why you’re canceled.”

Trump had accused CBS and “60 Minutes” of selectively editing an interview with Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential campaign, demanding that the network release unedited footage after two versions of an answer about Israel aired on different programs. CBS and parent company Paramount settled with Trump in July.

Colbert claimed the cancellation of his show weeks later was caused by Trump rather than corporate financial decisions.

Trump and Harry have also clashed in recent months over the prince’s immigration status. Harry faced potential deportation earlier this year following accusations that he failed to disclose past drug use when applying for a U.S. visa. Trump ultimately declined to pursue removal.

“I don’t want to do that. I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible,” Trump told The New York Post in February.

At a state banquet at Windsor Castle in September, Trump praised King Charles for raising a “remarkable son,” referring to Prince William and not Harry.

Harry’s appearance with Colbert ended with the two sharing an awkward embrace as fake snow fell. The Daily Mail reported that Harry’s father-in-law, 81-year-old Thomas Markle, underwent a three-hour emergency surgery in the Philippines and was placed in intensive care after falling ill.

His son, Thomas Markle Jr., told the outlet, “I would ask everyone around the world to keep him in their thoughts. My only wish is that Meghan shows my father some compassion. He is literally fighting for his life.”

He said he expects a lengthy recovery following an additional procedure to remove a blood clot.
