Releases obtained by UK DOGE’s FoI Unit show that HMPPS currently employs Pagan Chaplains worth a total annual salary cost of £121,534. This is “based on the sum of annual salary paid pro-rata based on FTE, plus any Unsocial Hours Percentage Allowance.” And that’s only the salary costs…

Candidates have to be “a proven and continued member of the Pagan Federation as the endorsing body or other eligible grove/coven or group who are signed up with and represented by the Pagan Symposium.” HMPSS says this excludes “anyone engaged on a sessional contract basis.” Freelance pagan chaplains anyone?

For that you could:

• Maintain three prison places.
• Buy ten unmarked police cars.
