
Alleged discrimination in the Ocean State offered one school district 10 days to respond after a federal investigation reportedly found evidence of loan forgiveness for non-white teachers only.
The Marxist ideologies of diversity, equity, and inclusion have routinely proven to be anything but discriminatory, and findings from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) appeared to support such a case out of Providence, Rhode Island. It was there that the government-run schools were alleged to have had “an ongoing pattern or practice of discrimination” via up to $25,000 in college loan forgiveness for teachers who aren’t white.
In a letter submitted to the Providence Public School District by the EEOC, Boston Area Office Director Feng An detailed, “The evidence obtained during the investigation establishes reasonable cause to believe that Respondent engaged in unlawful discrimination against a class of White applicants and employees who applied and were hired by Respondent in a teaching position for five academic years starting with the 2021-2022 school year based on their race, color and national origin, in violation of Title VII, as amended.”
The investigation was prompted after the Legal Insurrection Foundation (LIF) filed a civil rights complaint with the U.S. Department of Education in 2022 that contended the district “engaged in a continuing violation and an ongoing pattern or practice of discrimination” with its program called “Educator of Color Loan Forgiveness Program.”
Eligibility requirements to receive up to $25,000 in college loan forgiveness after three consecutive years in the program were said to call for the teacher to “identify as Asian, Black, Indigenous, Latino, biracial, or multi-racial.”
Cornell law professor William Jacobson, founder of LIF’s Equal Protection Project, told Fox News Digital in a statement, “After almost three years of effort, EPP is seeing the legal pieces fall into place to stop this racist program and to hold those responsible accountable.”
“The U.S. Department of Justice has opened a formal investigation and now the EEOC has issued a finding of ‘reasonable cause’ to believe the civil rights laws were violated,” he went on as the district was directed to contact the EEOC within 10 days to indicate “willingness to participate in EEOC’s conciliation program to address the violation noted in this letter of determination.”
“We are gratified by the findings of the EEOC, and look forward to the EEOC taking further legal action to vindicate the rights of hundreds, if not thousands, of White teachers who were subject to unlawful discriminatory treatment,” added Jacobson as failure to enter in discussions would result in the EEOC contacting aggrieved parties to advise them on court-enforced alternatives.
Previously, educators in Rhode Island were called out over a media literacy program funded by the Department of Homeland Security, said to train teachers in molding students into “‘disinformation’ informers,” and an assistant principal in Rhode Island had reportedly known she was raising money to fund human traffickers in 2023.
Reacting to the EEOC letter, the district told Fox News Digital in a statement, “We can confirm that the Providence Public School District (PPSD) is in receipt of communication from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commissioner regarding the District’s Educator of Color Loan Forgiveness program.”
“At this time, District leadership is working closely with legal counsel to review the communication and will respond accordingly,” added the statement.
