BREAKING: Reeves Announces Winter Fuel U-Turn

Reeves has just announced:

• Every pensioner earning less than £35,000 will receive the winter fuel payment this winter.
• Decision will cost £1.25 billion.
• 9 million pensioners covered.
• More than three-quarters of pensioners in England and Wales will now be entitled to the winter fuel payment.
• “The costs will be accounted for at the Budget and incorporated into the next OBR forecast… to ensure the government’s non-negotiable fiscal rules are met. This will not lead to permanent additional borrowing.”
