Rep. Thompson lobs inexcusable sexist insult at Kristi Noem during hearing

Venomous Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Mississippi) took a snarky shot at Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem during a congressional hearing on Wednesday.

Noem has been busy in her role as head of the DHS, and apparently that has rubbed some the wrong way. Thompson noted her various appearances and “costume changes” during a hearing.

“Whatever got you here Secretary Noem, I’m glad you found time among your many photo ops and costume changes to testify about why President Trump is seeking more taxpayer dollars, and what plan to do with that money if you get it,” he said in a comment that likely would have gone over like a lead balloon if it had been said to a female Democrat.

He didn’t become any less unhinged during the rest of his time speaking, opting to rant about the DHS being “out of control” under Noem’s watch and accusing President Donald Trump’s administration of “outright lying to the courts and the American people.”

“Your policies and actions are so bad that Republican members have been running and hiding from their own constituents, refusing to hold town halls, because they know they cannot defend this administration,” he claimed. “Republicans are unwilling to defend the Trump administration to the folks back home, so I guess it’s down to you to try to do that here today.”

“But you can’t defend the indefensible, Secretary Noem. Your department is out of control. On your watch, the department is breaking the law, it’s hurting people, and it’s making America less safe. The Trump administration is outright lying to the courts and the American people,” he continued.
