Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is reportedly eyeing two 2028 targets: The White House and the Senate.
“Some former aides to [Independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders] see Ocasio-Cortez as an heir apparent who could expand his appeal beyond the party’s left wing,” Axios reports. “And immediately raise tens of millions of dollars in a presidential race.”
Ocasio-Cortez “has a supporter base that, in many ways, has a larger potential width than Bernie’s,” longtime Sanders aide Ari Rabin-Havt told Axios. “She has been in that glare of the spotlight from day one and has the national campaigning experience a lot of other potential candidates are now trying to get.” (RELATED: If You Think Tim Walz Was Bad, Just Look At Kamala’s First Choice)
“It would be the height of arrogance to assume she couldn’t win the 2028 nomination,” Rabin-Havt told the outlet.

Ocasio-Cortez enjoys considerable support among Democrats and Independents, according to a Sept. 5–8 YouGov poll.
When asked if they’d consider Ocasio-Cortez for the 2028 Democratic presidential nominee, 38% of respondents assented. When asked their ideal candidate, 8% of respondents picked Ocasio-Cortez. Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom comes out on top with 23% of the vote.
Ocasio-Cortez is hardly the voice of moderation some Democrats are hoping will lead them out of the wilderness. Peruse her X account for evidence of her year-long, if not decade-long, commitment to radical left-wing politics. All dressed up with sassy comebacks.
Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for New York City mayor, treads a similar line. Mamdani, like Ocasio-Cortez, is a card-carrying socialist. Mamdani, like Ocasio-Cortez, is pretty good at using social media.

A Sept. 10 poll from Quinnipiac University sees Mamdani leading the mayoral race, with 45% support among likely voters. Former New York City Gov. Andrew Cuomo is runner-up, with 23% support. (RELATED: ‘Going To Get Worse’: Dems Bleeds Support Left And Right As GOP Leads With New Voters)
In the battle for the soul of the Democrat Party, if it has one, the socialist upstarts appear to be winning handily. They have the considerable advantage of not being senile. Two roads diverge before registered Democrats: Transvestite Socialism or Girlboss Forever-War.
Is it any great wonder their party is losing people?
