The Pentagon reportedly plans to send 3,000 troops from the Army’s elite 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East during the Iran conflict.
A written order from the Pentagon is set to be signed in the next few hours ordering a brigade combat team to the region, two U.S. officials told The Wall Street Journal (WSJ). They would reportedly be dispatched along with the division’s headquarters. This comes a day after President Donald Trump announced that he would wait five days before striking Iranian power plants following allegedly “productive” talks with the US. The Iranian Foreign Minister denied these claims.

The Trump administration recently sent additional marines and warships to the region to amid Iranian attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, according to the outlet The latest conflict flared after the U.S. and Israel both struck the Islamic Republic on Feb. 28.
