REPORT: Police Arrest Kiefer Sutherland

Los Angeles Police reported arrested actor Kiefer Sutherland on suspicion of felony criminal threats in relation to an altercation with a ride-share driver.

NBC4 News reported January 13 that police arrested he actor Monday just after midnight after receiving a report of an assault involving a ride-share driver near Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue in the Hollywood area. They reported that the suspect – later identified as Sutherland – was accused of assaulting the driver inside the vehicle.

The circumstances leading up to the alleged incident, and the identity of the rideshare driver remain unclear. There were no reports of injuries requiring medical treatment, according to the outlet.

Jail records indicated Sutherland was released from police custody on $50,000 bond. The 54-year-old actor has a scheduled court date February 2, according to NBC4 News.

Sutherland won an Emmy and a Golden Globe award for playing Jack Bauer in the hit TV series “24.”

The veteran actor’s long list of credits includes roles in “Stand by Me,” “The Lost Boys,” “Flatliners,” “A Few Good Men,” and “Designated Survivor.” He also appeared in “Phone Booth,” “Mirrors,” and “Melancholia.” (RELATED: Julio Iglesias Faces Allegations Of Sexual Assault, Human Trafficking)

This is not Sutherland’s first brush with the law.

He was sentenced to 48 days in jail in 2017 following a DUI arrest.
