Rocker Neil Young has new song protesting Trump’s war on crime

Pro-establishment rocker Neil Young was in his Vietnam War-era element when he penned a new protest song in response to President Donald J. Trump’s war on crime.

Ironically, while most of America recognizes crime as a serious problem, Democrats see opposing the use of the National Guard to curtail rampant crime in the nation’s capital as a cause du jour.

The 79-year-old anti-Trump rocker debuted his new song, “Big Crime,” this week, blasting the president as a “fascist,” suggesting the real crime in D.C. is at the White House while crying, “got to get the fascists out, got to clean the White House out, don’t want soldiers on our streets.”

Here’s a sampling of the deranged lyrics

Don’t need no fascist rules
Don’t want no fascist schools
Don’t want soldiers on our streets
There’s big crime in D.C. at THE White House
There’s big crime in D.C. at THE White House

Got to get the fascists out
got to Clean the white house out
Don’t want soldiers on our streets
There’s big crime in D.C. at THE White House
There’s big crime in D.C. at THE White House

The problem with Young’s protest is that Washington’s Democratic mayor has essentially thanked President Trump for his efforts.

But then, Young has a long history of denouncing Trump, as seen when the president criticized Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen.

“Bruce and thousands of musicians think you are ruining America,” Young wrote at the time. “You worry about that instead of the dyin’ kids in Gaza. That’s your problem. I am not scared of you. Neither are the rest of us. You shut down FEMA when we needed it most. That’s your problem Trump. STOP THINKING ABOUT WHAT ROCKERS ARE SAYING. Think about saving America from the mess you made. Taylor Swift is right. So is Bruce. You know how I feel.”

Perhaps Lynyrd Skynyrd was right in the song “Sweet Home Alabama,” when legendary frontman Ronnie Van Zant sang, “I hope Neil Young will remember – A Southern man don’t need him around, anyhow.”

For social media users who actually know who Neil Young is, some were surprised to learn that he is still alive — here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
