Rubio, Vance respond to German gov’t over move to ban opposition party

The German government has designated the leading opposition party as an “extremist endeavor” in yet another alarming turn by the nation back to its dark and oppressive past.

The Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, which has been falsely branded as a “far-right” organization by the authoritarian leftist extremists who now rule the European continent, has now been deemed to be all but an official enemy of the state by German intelligence, opening the door for the government to unleash police state measures to eradicate it.

The Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz (BfV), which is Germany’s top domestic intelligence agency comparable to the FBI, released the results of its investigation into the AfD which it deemed to be racist and anti-Muslim, justifications for increased surveillance and official skullduggery against the party which came in second in the country’s recent elections.

“Central to our assessment is the ethnically and ancestrally defined concept of the people that shapes the AfD, which devalues entire segments of the population in Germany and violates their human dignity,” the agency said in a statement, according to CNN. “This concept is reflected in the party’s overall anti-migrant and anti-Muslim stance.”

The move drew strong criticism from top U.S. officials, with both Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio condemning the designation.

“Germany just gave its spy agency new powers to surveil the opposition. That’s not democracy—it’s tyranny in disguise,” Rubio wrote in a Friday post to X. “What is truly extremist is not the popular AfD—which took second in the recent election—but rather the establishment’s deadly open border immigration policies that the AfD opposes. Germany should reverse course.”

Vance accused the German government of rebuilding the Berlin Wall, which was toppled in 1989 in a celebrated moment for democracy, only not the type of “democracy” practiced by the globalist left.

“The AfD is the most popular party in Germany, and by far the most representative of East Germany. Vance met with the head of the AfD during a trip to Germany earlier this year, but really rattled cages when he called out the Euro fascists in their own backyard in a speech at the Munich Security Conference.

“Everything from our Ukraine policy to digital censorship is billed as a defense of democracy, but when we see European courts canceling elections and senior officials threatening to cancel others, we ought to ask whether we’re holding ourselves to an appropriately high standard. And I say ‘ourselves’ because I fundamentally believe that we are on the same team. We must do more than talk about democratic values. We must live them,” Vance told the stunned audience.

Not since the days of Hitler and later the East German Stasi has the country embraced such repressive measures against opponents, but the German government has apparently decided that it will go back to the future to stay in power.
