SANDOVAL: Why Are So Many Democrats Okay With Killing Trump? One Poll Has The Answer

The American left is increasingly comfortable with political violence. They’re also increasingly convinced they’re being oppressed by a fascistic dictatorship. If you think either notion is absurd, you’re probably not a Democrat.

Nearly three-quarters of self-identified Democrats believe President Donald Trump is a ‘fascist’ dictator, according to a new national telephone and online survey from Rasmussen Reports. This helps explain a shocking poll from Rutgers released earlier this month, which revealed most Democrats (55.2%) believe murdering President Donald Trump is justified.

Democrats just do not live in reality.

The pollsters asked over a thousand likely voters if they agreed or disagreed with the statement, “We live in a fascist dictatorship. That’s what’s happening right now…We are in the constitutional crisis right now.” (RELATED: Victor Davis Hanson Dismantles Narrative That Trump Is Governing Like A ‘Fascist’)

That’s a quote from The Nation’s “justice correspondent” Elie Mystal. Mystal delivered the remark in a March appearance on the internet news program “Democracy Now!”

During the same interview, he seemed to suggest circumventing the judiciary may be an appropriate measure under the current administration: “the people have to lead, because the courts will not do it. The courts cannot do it. You want to free [Mahmoud] Khalil? We need to go to Jena and free Khalil. Like, that’s what it takes. It’s not going to happen because a judge writes something down on a piece of paper.” Khalil is reportedly being held in a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility in Jena, Louisiana.

Much digital ink has been spilled regarding the dangers of online “radicalization” towards the right. It’s apparent the real radicalization is overwhelmingly occurring in the opposite direction. The legacy media wrings their hands over jokes which run afoul of elite sensibilities but eschews commenting on the multi-million-dollar propaganda efforts streaming live to millions of American living rooms every night.

The Democrats are relentless in their insistence that Trump is “literally Adolf Hitler.” For those outside the party, this appears a rhetorical attack which loses power each time it is inaccurately and dramatically employed against the left’s enemy of the day. Trump is hardly governing like a fascist. But one shouldn’t underestimate the emotional appeal of such comparisons to a certain audience. Imagine, for a moment, you’re suffering under the delusion America is being helmed by a malicious madman who might drop a nuclear bomb on Los Angeles if he wakes up on the wrong side of the bed. You might very well go to great lengths to “save” your country. Or at least permit your eyes to glaze over as you witness someone shoot the president on live television.
