CNN senior political commentator Scott Jennings delivered a sharp rebuttal to Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) on Sunday after she disparaged Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk during an appearance on the network, as reported by The Independent Journal Review.
Crockett was a guest on CNN’s “State of the Union,” where host Dana Bash pressed her about her decision to vote against a resolution condemning the Sept. 10 assassination of Kirk in Utah.

Crockett defended her opposition, complaining that “only two caucasians” sided with her and labeling Kirk a “Confederate” whose rhetoric was “harmful.”
Kirk was killed earlier this month by an alleged assassin who also claimed the conservative activist’s work was harmful.
When Bash asked Crockett about her past heated rhetoric toward Kirk, she escalated her remarks, criticizing both Kirk and President Donald Trump, while drawing yet another Hitler comparison.
Bash then turned to Jennings for his reaction. Jennings began his response with three blunt words:
“Well, she’s lying.”

“I mean, Charlie Kirk targeted nobody. He was not racist in any way,” Jennings said.
“I’ve listened to hours and hours and hours and hours of Charlie Kirk debates and talks and have been with Charlie Kirk and did events with Charlie Kirk and knew Charlie Kirk. There wasn’t a racist bone in his body. To say that he was continuously targeting people of color is nothing but a malicious smear on the very day that people are remembering Charlie, and he’s going to be laid to rest.”
Jennings added that Crockett’s comments, along with the actions of other Democrats, showed a broader pattern.

“And so, I think when you combine the no votes on the resolution and then you look at the leading democratic voices like Ilhan Omar and Jasmine Crockett, who’ve gone out to smear Charlie before he’s even had his funeral,” Jennings said.
“When I hear people say, we need to come together and both sides need to turn down the rhetoric, you know, a lot of the people saying that need to look inward right now. I was shocked at that. Well, I guess I should say I’m shocked by her, but I was a little, little stunned by what happened this morning.”
The House resolution to censure Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) also failed last week.
Four Republicans joined Democrats to defeat the measure, which was brought after Omar’s Sept. 11 appearance on Zeteo News, where she told Mehdi Hasan that those defending Kirk’s campus speeches were “full of shit.”
Crockett has previously made inflammatory statements in public appearances.
She compared U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to “slave patrols,” defended her past comparisons of Trump to Hitler during a Sept. 12 interview on “The Breakfast Club,” claimed Trump’s supporters were mentally ill, and mocked Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who uses a wheelchair.
