Scott Jennings ends big crime stats lie ‘…for all the anchors and pundits touting DC’s supposed 30 year low’

The left’s altered reality that violent crime is at an all-time low in Washington, D.C., just took an ice water bath.

Amid President Donald Trump’s vow to make the nation’s capital great – and safe – again, Democrats and leftist pundits have been insulting D.C. residents by claiming there is no crime crisis and the president is being a dictator. But a new report revealed that the Metropolitan Police Department has been “misclassifying” crimes in order to keep the statistical numbers low.

CNN’s Scott Jennings highlighted the Washington Free Beacon report with a social media post that dared the anchors and pundits who said otherwise to acknowledge the latest evidence.

“Turns out they were – as we all knew – falsifying the numbers. Who will have the guts to admit it today?” he wrote.

“Police brass repeatedly told officers to downgrade theft cases, knife attacks, and violent assaults to lesser offenses, according to internal MPD emails, depositions, and phone call transcripts the Free Beacon reviewed,” the report noted on the settlement of a lawsuit by police sergeant Charlotte Djossou, who sued the Metropolitan Police Department in 2020.

“Djossou, who joined the force after serving honorably in Iraq, accused MPD brass of attempting to ‘distort crime statistics’ by downgrading a number of felonies to misdemeanors, so that there will be ‘fewer’ felonies in the statistics.’ She also provided records showing that police leaders explicitly instructed their subordinates to underclassify certain instances of theft to keep them out of the crime stats the city reports to the public,” the Free Beacon reported.

“The lawsuit, as well as the city’s decision to settle, calls into question the prevailing narrative presented in mainstream media outlets as President Donald Trump carries out a D.C. crime crackdown,” the outlet added, noting that the mainstream media continues to cite MPD data to drive the low-crime narrative while leaving out background information that whistleblowers have brought to light.

In the race to paint Trump as an evil dictator, the left tramples over facts and the truth to make a point – even if that means Washington, D.C. residents have to continue to be victims of crimes.

Social media users on X reacted to Jennings’ post with a collective eyeroll at the latest revelation.
