Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick headlined Daily Caller Live: American Jobs, American Strength, presented by American Beverage Association Thursday morning in Washington, D.C. and highlighted the Trump administration’s recent work on trade deals and combatting harmful Chinese economic practices.
Lutnick was interviewed by Daily Caller Editor-in-Chief Dylan Housman. Other panels featured Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson, Grover Norquist and ABA President and CEO Kevin Keane moderated by Daily Caller White House Correspondent Reagan Reese, and President of ALEC Jonathan Williams and President of Unleash Prosperity and American Commitment Phil Kerpen moderated by Daily Caller Senior Editor Amber Duke.

Lutnick and Housman began the event by touting the Trump administration’s economic wins and new trade deals, particularly that which was reached with Japan in the preceding days.
“When I say it’s historic, what that means is it’s completely intellectually above anything anybody’s ever done before,” Lutnick said of the deal. “They did not want to move a million jobs out of Japan into America … they offered us, and this was my idea and I worked on it for almost six months … they offered and negotiated with the president $550 billion.”
“This is the Japanese government saying to Trump … the Japanese will finance at their cost, any project for national security or that’s important to Donald Trump in the United States of America.” (RELATED: Howard Lutnick Reveals How Trump Admin Secured Massive Trade Deal With Japan)
Lutnick also highlighted the $34 billion in tariff revenue the United States is receiving per month, as well as the administration’s work on dismantling non-tariff trade barriers.
The panel featuring Sen. Johnson, Norquist and Keane focused on the “Job Boom Behind American Made.” Johnson, a three-decade operator of a manufacturing firm in Wisconsin, brought unique insight on the power of deregulation while Norquist focused on the importance of reducing tactics.
The event closed with the panel of Duke, Kerpen and Williams, who discussed the “Economic Ripple of American Made.”
Daily Caller Live: American Jobs, American Strength, was the second event in the Daily Caller Live series and was streamed to thousands of viewers online in addition to the packed audience at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington.
