Senate Democrats’ Loyalties Questioned After Blocking Bill to Cut Taliban Funding [WATCH]

Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., raised alarm during a recent Fox News appearance over continued U.S. financial flows into Afghanistan, warning that American taxpayer dollars are ending up in the hands of the Taliban through what he described as a vast and unaccountable network of non-governmental organizations.

Burchett said the United States is currently sending tens of millions of dollars each week to Afghanistan, despite the Taliban’s control of the country.

He argued that the funding mechanism relies heavily on NGOs that he claims lack proper oversight and accountability, allowing money intended for humanitarian purposes to be diverted.

“We are sending, currently, $40 million a week to the Taliban in Afghanistan,” Burchett said.

“There’s around 1000 of these NGOs that are created.”

According to Burchett, the process often begins with private donations that then trigger federal funding streams.

He claimed wealthy donors help seed organizations that later attract large sums of taxpayer money once federal bureaucrats sign off on them.

“And what happens is some billionaire Soros esque kind of person puts money in an account, a million dollars,” Burchett said.

“Some unelected bureaucrat in Washington DC sees that, and it’s got a great name, like, you know, state feed the starving children or something so, and they start funding.”

Burchett cited a conversation he said he had with Elon Musk, claiming the scale of spending involved is massive.

“And Elon Musk told me, and I have no reason to doubt it, we probably put close to a trillion of your tax dollars into these things,” Burchett said.

He alleged that once federal funding enters the NGO system, the money often ends up in the hands of terrorist groups rather than reaching intended recipients.

“And then it flows into the pockets of terrorists and ma’am, they will hate us for free,” Burchett said.

“We don’t need to be buying the Taliban $40 million a week.”

Burchett also criticized the current administration and Senate Democrats, claiming lawmakers are aware of the funding issue but have failed to act.

He pointed specifically to Senate Democrats blocking legislation aimed at halting the payments.

“But the President is aware of it, and last week, the Senate Democrats blocked the bill on the Senate floor, if you can imagine that,” Burchett said.

“And you got to wonder where their loyalties are.”

The Tennessee congressman accused Democratic lawmakers of prioritizing personal and political interests over national security, suggesting ties between lawmakers and NGOs may influence policy decisions.

“They don’t care if they burn this dadgum country down,” Burchett said.

“They all they want is to get their money to fund because their wives and or their girlfriends, or possibly both, are probably employed by some of these NGOs.”

Burchett said the issue extends beyond Afghanistan and claimed similar exploitation of U.S. aid is occurring in other regions.

“We could better start watching this,” he said.

“If we’re sending $40 million a week to this to the Taliban dad gum and the Somalis are ripping us off. Off over there. It’s all over the country, we better start paying attention.”
