Shannon Sharpe is quickly becoming a cautionary tale for young men.
On Sunday, a woman, only identified as Jane Doe, filed a bombshell $50 million lawsuit against Sharpe, accusing the former NFL star of sexual assault in multiple instances between late 2024 and early 2025. The woman said she was 19 years of age when she met Sharpe at a Los Angeles gym in 2023.
Sharpe has denied all of the allegations, maintaining that the relationship was “100% consensual.” He has also temporarily stepped away from his role as a contributor for ESPN’s “First Take.” (Subscribe to MR. RIGHT, a weekly newsletter about modern masculinity)

“I will be devoting this time to my family, and responding and dealing with these false and disruptive allegations set against me. I plan to return to ESPN at the start of the NFL preseason,” the former NFL tight end said in a statement.
Sharpe’s lawyer, Lanny J. Davis, told the Daily Caller that they intend to file a counter claim. “We’ve got the facts, we’ve got proof,” he said, describing Sharpe as “a truly great man, a sincere man, a good hearted man.”
Whether the allegations are true or not, Sharpe’s current legal dilemma is a perfect cautionary tale for young men.
Sharpe is currently 56 years old. At that age, Sharpe should be happily married to the love of his life, spending quality time with her and his grandkids, having a beverage or two with his adult kids. He should be playing a round of golf every other weekend with his close buddies, and going on a once-a-week date night with his wife.
But instead, he is currently embroiled in a big sex scandal, all because he hooked up with a young woman. If he had found a life-long partner earlier in his life, stuck by her and had a family, he probably would not be in this mess.
Young men should do the precise opposite. Find the love of their life, get married, have kids, and stay married. They should not be in their 50s and having sex with random women.
