Deaths by euthanasia and assisted suicide have soared 35 per cent in the past year in Queensland, Australia.
This represents 1,072 people who ended their lives in the Australian state between 1 July 2024 and 30 June 2025, up from 793 in the previous 12 months. Of the 1,072 people, 293 died by assisted suicide and 779 died by euthanasia.
The figures were outlined in the latest Queensland Voluntary Assisted Dying Review Board report, which was presented to Timothy Nicholls (pictured), the minister for health and ambulance services.
