Snoop Dogg Backs Out Days Before Show After Promoter Reportedly Convicted Of Sexual Assault

Snoop Dogg canceled a New Zealand show Wednesday after learning the local promoter was convicted of sexual assault.

The rapper pulled out of his performance at the Due Drop Events Center just three days before the Saturday concert, after reports surfaced that promoter Pato Alvarez faced 25 charges tied to nine women. Alvarez was convicted in 2023 of indecent assault and attempted unlawful sexual connection against his children’s babysitter, according to Stuff, a New Zealand-based outlet. Snoop Dogg’s abrupt pullout came a week after Alvarez was unmasked as the once-anonymous “entertainment industry figure” accused of the sexual assaults, according to TMZ. Alvarez had boasted about landing the rapper, telling local media that Snoop’s “team contacted us directly, wanting to stop in New Zealand for a special performance on his way to Australia.”

Alvarez tried to keep his identity sealed, but the country’s Supreme Court rejected his bid earlier in September, The New Zealand Herald reported.

Promoter 4ward Entertainment confirmed the cancellation Tuesday on Instagram, writing, “Due to circumstances beyond our control, Snoop Dogg will no longer be performing in Auckland this weekend.”

“We apologise to all fans who were looking forward to the show on Saturday, September 20. We understand the disappointment and inconvenience caused,” the post added.

“Our goal was to deliver a first-class, New Zealand-first show and we are saddened this is no longer possible. All refunds will be processed automatically by Eventfinda. This will take 2-5 days depending on your bank,” the statement said.

Snoop Dogg has not publicly commented on the cancellation.
