As the U.S. military executed a high-risk operation to capture Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, a second, domestic campaign began unfolding inside the United States within minutes, according to a detailed timeline compiled from public social media posts, livestreams, and organizational statements.
The activity centered on a network of self-described Marxist, socialist, and communist organizations that moved rapidly to shape public perception of the operation and mobilize protests across the country.
The campaign combined coordinated messaging, graphic materials, livestreams, and street demonstrations, forming what analysts described as an organized information and influence effort rather than a spontaneous reaction.
The network has a long history of opposing U.S. foreign policy actions.
Over the years, the same groups and leaders have organized protests against U.S. military responses after the September 11 attacks, embedded themselves in protests following the 2020 killing of George Floyd, marched alongside Antifa-aligned activists, organized anti-Israel campus encampments after the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack, and repeatedly mobilized demonstrations in support of Maduro and his government.

This Could Be the Most Important Video Gun Owners Watch All Year
According to a Fox News Digital review of timestamps and posts, the coordinated response began almost immediately after U.S. special forces landed in Venezuela.
At 1:35 a.m., BreakThrough News, a socialist media outlet aligned with the network, published early video footage of U.S. military strikes, accusing the Trump administration of conducting an “illegal bombing campaign of Caracas.”

That framing became a central talking point repeated throughout the day.
Ten minutes later, at 1:45 a.m., Manolo De Los Santos, executive director of The People’s Forum, a New York City-based socialist nonprofit, echoed the “illegal bombing” narrative on social media.
Explosions now shaking Caracas.
Trump has launched an illegal bombing campaign. Families, children, people sleeping in their homes across Caracas are under attack. Bombings confirmed in La Guaira, Fuerte Tiuna, La Carlota.

At 2:29 a.m., the ANSWER Coalition, a nonprofit co-founded by Marxist activist Brian Becker, issued a red-siren alert on X accompanied by a newly produced poster calling for a protest in Times Square in support of Maduro.
The poster read: “NO WAR ON VENEZUELA! STOP THE BOMBINGS.”
🚨EMERGENCY DAY OF ACTION: No war on Venezuela! Stop the bombings!

Within minutes, The People’s Forum amplified the call with its own post declaring an “EMERGENCY PROTEST.”

Congressional investigators have already examined elements of this network for its ties to Neville Roy Singham, a U.S.-born technology executive who relocated to Shanghai after selling his software company.
Critics have argued that Singham’s activities align closely with Chinese Communist Party interests. Singham did not respond to requests for comment.
By 3:21 a.m., Vijay Prashad, director of Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research, posted a message condemning the U.S. military action and declaring, “Down with US imperialism.”

At 6:09 a.m., CodePink, a nonprofit founded by Singham’s wife, Jodie Evans, issued a statement denouncing what it called the “terrorist United States.”
This is a war crime.
The terrorist United States has bombed Venezuela because it dared to defy its imperialist regime.
We stand with the Venezuelan people.
— CODEPINK (@codepink) January 3, 2026
Security analysts reviewing the sequence described it as exhibiting hallmarks of a pre-positioned influence operation: synchronized messaging, staggered releases across aligned platforms, and a near-immediate transition from online agitation to physical mobilization.
At the center of the network is the International Peoples’ Assembly, an umbrella organization linking socialist parties, activist groups, and aligned media outlets worldwide.
One of its media arms, People’s Dispatch, openly describes its mission as mobilizing resistance against what it calls “American imperialism.” Tricontinental is listed as one of its partners.
North American members of the International Peoples’ Assembly coordinating committee include CodePink, the Popular Education Project operated by The People’s Forum, and the Party for Socialism and Liberation.
Its Venezuelan member organization is the Francisco de Miranda Front, which works closely with U.S. groups.
At 7:49 a.m., the International Peoples’ Assembly shared the “EMERGENCY DAY OF ACTION” poster and released a statement condemning the U.S. military operation as evidence of an “increasingly militaristic and hyper-imperialist orientation,” urging members to “resist this pursuit of hegemony by any means necessary.”

The assembly operates in coordination with Tricontinental, which functions as an ideological production hub generating research and narratives distributed through aligned media outlets and activated through street-level organizations.
Evans sits on the International Peoples’ Assembly, linking messaging, mobilization, and leadership.
Experts say Prashad plays a central role in shaping the ideological framework, while De Los Santos has emerged as a key operational organizer.
De Los Santos is listed as a researcher at Tricontinental and has appeared repeatedly at events aligned with the Maduro government.
The relationship between U.S. activists and Venezuelan political structures dates back years.
In 2003, Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez backed the Francisco de Miranda Front, which later became part of the International Peoples’ Assembly.
The infrastructure matured into a support network for Maduro after he took power in 2013.
In March 2019, De Los Santos organized a pro-Maduro protest outside Venezuela’s consulate in New York, physically blocking opposition figures.
That same month, Claudia De la Cruz of the Party for Socialism and Liberation traveled to Caracas for an International Peoples’ Assembly conference, urging socialists to “collectivize” efforts to fight the “capitalist crisis.”
“Venezuela is the epicenter,” De la Cruz said.
“Venezuela is the personification of the anti-imperialist struggle.”
In April 2019, The People’s Forum hosted Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza, who called for an end to U.S. sanctions.
According to an account in Fight Back! News, the event concluded with Arreaza urging continued protests, with De Los Santos calling the crowd to action.
In May 2019, De Los Santos appeared on Venezuela’s state-funded teleSUR network, saying he had organized a press conference with religious leaders in New York to “engage in the battle of ideas” against what he called “imperialist aggression.”
In November 2021, Prashad and De Los Santos posed with Maduro in a photo shared online.
Prashad wrote, “Elections in Venezuela today!” adding that he stood with De Los Santos and Maduro in support of “sovereignty against imperialism.”
De Los Santos returned to Caracas multiple times in subsequent years, including appearances at conferences livestreamed on Maduro’s social media accounts and participation in the International Anti-Fascist Summit in April 2022.
The activity intensified in 2024. In late April, Maduro publicly recognized De Los Santos at a conference of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America.
In the fall, a coalition including the Communist Party USA and other socialist groups issued an “urgent call” for coordinated protests supporting Maduro.
Similar protests were organized again last month under the slogan “NO WAR ON VENEZUELA.”
Following the overnight operation to capture Maduro, the network again mobilized.
By 8:49 a.m., CodePink revived the slogan “HANDS OFF VENEZUELA,” dismissing criminal proceedings against Maduro as a “sham.”

At 8:57 a.m., the Democratic Socialists of America shared a message from Rep. Rashida Tlaib condemning the strike as “illegal.”
Trump’s illegal and unprovoked bombing of Venezuela and kidnapping of its president are grave violations of international law and the U.S. Constitution. These are the actions of a rogue state.

At 1:06 p.m., New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani echoed the same framing, calling the capture of Maduro an “act of war” and a “blatant pursuit of regime change.”

— Dinesh D’Souza (@DineshDSouza) January 4, 2026
The rhetoric closely mirrored statements from China and Russia, both of which criticized the U.S. action. China opposed what it called the “blatant use of force,” while Russia labeled the operation an “act of aggression.”
By early afternoon, protest footage flooded social media.
At 1:34 p.m., the ANSWER Coalition posted video of demonstrators outside the White House chanting “Stop the war machine.”

The Party for Socialism and Liberation immediately shared it.
At 2:42 p.m., The People’s Forum shared video of Becker speaking in Times Square, declaring, “This is a capitalist war! It’s a rich man’s war! The kidnapping of Maduro is an imperialist war for a capitalist class!”

At 3:02 p.m., The People’s Forum posted video of De Los Santos addressing the crowd in Times Square, calling the Trump administration a “criminal enterprise” for “kidnapping” Maduro.
The crowd responded, “Shame!”
During the livestream, Becker described the rapid mobilization.
“A few of us stood up all night last night when we heard the news, conferring with each other, conferring with other organizers and, by 3:30, 4 o’clock this morning, we put out the call for demonstrations to happen today, Saturday, Jan. 3,” he said.
He added that by mid-morning, additional anti-Trump groups joined, resulting in protests in “100-plus cities.”
As the aircraft carrying Maduro and his wife landed at Stewart Airport in New Windsor, New York, livestream captions read, “ANTI-WAR PROTESTS SWEEP U.S.”
“We should be raging!” Becker told viewers, urging participation in what he described as a “class war, global war, anti-imperialist war.”
Analysts say the events illustrate how a long-standing ideological network functions as a rapid-response influence operation during moments of geopolitical conflict, seeking to shape domestic opinion, pressure policymakers, and legitimize foreign-aligned narratives within the United States.
