Army soldiers from near and far traveled Saturday to their military branch’s 250th anniversary celebration in the nation’s capital.
Service members donning their fatigues were a common sight among the thousands attending the festival on the National Mall.
Brothers Airam and Eric Amaro-Millan, both specialists in the Army Reserve, came from Fort Buchanan in Puerto Rico for the big day.
“We wanted to show our support for the Army during this celebration, and it’s cool to see so many people out here for the event,” Airam said.
The brothers said they enjoyed seeing how amazed the public was watching the military vehicles throughout the festival.
Tanks and helicopters that are part of the modern military are stationed around the Mall.

Eric said he’s been in the reserves since 2018, and Airam said he’s been in the military since 2020.
Other service members made a short trip for the celebration.
One was Joe Tucker, a budget analyst at the Pentagon. He said he was “tapped on the shoulder” about helping work the event.
He, too, said he liked seeing how fascinated people were with the military vehicles on display.
He said he was most looking forward to the parade later in the day so people could see them in action.
