Son of Attempted Trump Assassin Sentenced to Seven Years for Child Pornography [WATCH]

Oran Routh, the son of Ryan Routh, who is currently in federal custody on charges related to an attempted assassination of a major presidential candidate, was sentenced Friday morning to seven years in federal prison for possession of child pornography involving a minor under the age of 12.

The sentencing took place in a federal courtroom in North Carolina, where Oran Routh appeared following his guilty plea to a single charge of possession of child pornography.

In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to drop several other charges, including multiple counts of possessing and transporting child pornography, according to a report by WGHP.

“The judge sentenced him to 7 years in prison with 5 years of supervised probation,” WGHP reported.

The case stems from a 2023 search of Routh’s residence in North Carolina, during which law enforcement officials seized a Samsung Galaxy Note smartphone.

Investigators discovered an SD card in the device containing a large cache of illegal material.

“A review of the SD card located in Device-1 revealed that it contained hundreds of child pornography files,” prosecutors wrote in the criminal complaint, according to ABC News.

“These files include videos from a known child pornography series created outside the state of North Carolina.”

The discovery led to federal charges against Oran Routh, ultimately resulting in Friday’s sentencing.

Routh had previously spoken to the Daily Mail about his father, Ryan Routh, who remains in federal detention on charges including attempting to assassinate a major presidential candidate and violating federal firearms laws.

While he expressed disapproval of President Donald Trump, Routh attempted to defend his father’s character.

“My dad hates Trump like every reasonable person does,” Oran Routh said in the interview.

He added, “I don’t like Trump either,” but quickly followed with a claim that his father was “not a violent person.”

“He’s my dad and all he’s had is couple traffic tickets, as far as I know… That’s crazy. I know my dad and love my dad, but that’s nothing like him,” Oran stated.

Oran also noted that his father had told him he was going to “the beach,” but claimed he misunderstood the location.

“He said he was at the beach, but I thought that meant the outer banks in Hawaii.”

Although Oran Routh declined to elaborate, he acknowledged that he and his father had grown distant over time.

“I didn’t ask him for more information because we’ve had a falling out. We’ve grown apart,” he said.

Despite the separation and the serious charges facing his father, Oran described him as “a hard worker and a great dad.”

“He’s a great dude, a nice guy and has worked his whole f**kking life,” Routh said.

Ryan Routh remains in federal custody awaiting trial. Federal prosecutors have not released further information regarding the timeline of proceedings in his case.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in North Carolina has not issued additional public comment regarding Oran Routh’s sentencing.
