As protests and riots continue across Los Angeles in response to ongoing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations, new reports reveal multiple financial connections between far-left activist groups and major funding sources tied to billionaire George Soros and other prominent left-wing donors.
🚨🔥 WHO’S BEHIND THE ANTI-ICE RIOTS IN LOS ANGELES? 🔥🚨
Hundreds took to the streets this weekend: blocking roads, attacking federal officers, even burning flags. But this wasn’t “spontaneous outrage.”
This was organized. Funded. Coordinated.

The protests have drawn attention for escalating into violent confrontations with law enforcement, looting, and organized disruptions of federal immigration enforcement.

Among the organizations participating in the demonstrations is the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA), a Los Angeles-based nonprofit that has played a prominent role in staging anti-ICE rallies.
According to a report published by the Daily Mail, CHIRLA received nearly $34 million in funding during the fiscal year ending June 2023.
The majority of that funding came from the state of California, with additional support from federal grants during the Biden-Harris administration.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) awarded CHIRLA $450,000 as part of its “citizenship education and training” initiatives.
Following President Donald Trump’s return to the White House in January 2025, DHS terminated its relationship with CHIRLA and halted further payments, including a final installment of approximately $101,000 that had not yet been disbursed.
The move reflected a broader reassessment of funding priorities under the current administration, particularly for organizations involved in protest activity or that were found to be critical of immigration enforcement.
In addition to public funding, CHIRLA also received over $500,000 in 2023 from the Tides Foundation.
Tides operates as a financial conduit for numerous progressive causes and is a key pass-through organization for the Open Society Foundations (OSF), founded and funded by George Soros.
From 2016 through 2023, OSF awarded the Tides network—encompassing Tides Foundation, Tides Center, and Tides Advocacy—more than $72 million, according to the foundation’s own grant database.
Annual contributions included $24.3 million in 2021, $9.8 million in 2023, and $8.3 million in 2020.
Prior to that, the watchdog group InfluenceWatch tracked at least $22.4 million in funding from OSF to Tides between 1998 and 2018, although that figure only accounts for grants to the Tides Foundation directly and likely underestimates the total support.
Another financial backer of protests cited in the Daily Mail report is Neville Roy Singham, a wealthy American businessman known for his links to the Chinese Communist Party.
Singham reportedly provides financial support to the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), a Marxist-Leninist organization that has maintained a visible presence at multiple protests through signage and street demonstrations.

Investigators such as author Matt Palumbo and the account “DataRepublican” have raised concerns on social media about the origins of funding behind the LA demonstrations.
In comments to the Daily Mail, Palumbo said, “There’s a direct line of funding that includes our very own federal government, the state of California and billionaires who have contempt for the nation that enabled their success.”

The investigation also points to upcoming events with direct financial links to OSF.
A coordinated set of protests known as the “NO KINGS Nationwide Day of Defiance” is scheduled to take place this weekend in several U.S. cities in opposition to President Trump’s planned military parade celebrating the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army.
The event is being organized by the Indivisible Project, which received $7 million in funding from the Open Society Foundations.

While it remains unclear whether the upcoming protests will result in violence similar to the incidents in Los Angeles, law enforcement and federal agencies are closely monitoring the situation.
The Trump administration has made it clear that federal resources will be used to respond to any threats against public safety or obstruction of immigration enforcement operations.
As scrutiny over the role of left-wing funding networks intensifies, federal oversight bodies are expected to examine how prior grant allocations were used and whether any taxpayer dollars were indirectly supporting protest activity that turned violent.
