South Park Abruptly Postpones Episode Premiere

“South Park” abruptly postponed an episode premiere on Wednesday.

Comedy Central removed the Season 27 South Park episode “Got a Nut,” which satirized Kirk and other conservative figures, hours after his tragic assassination on Sept 10. On Wednesday, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone announced they had not finished the episode and that it will now premiere on Sept. 24. (Subscribe to MR. “Apparently when you do everything at the last minute sometimes you don’t get it done. This one’s on us. We didn’t get it done in time. Thanks to Comedy Central and South Park fans for being so understanding. Tune in next week!” they said in a statement.

They also provided a list of dates for future episodes through Dec. 10.

The episode “Got a Nut” featured Eric Cartman imitating Kirk’s demeanor and style while conducting a mock debate. The show also poked fun at President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and the administration’s ICE raids. Kirk had a positive response to being satirized by the show, describing his depiction as “awesome.”

Andrew Kolvet, Kirk’s executive producer, pointed to his boss’ good-natured response on Wednesday while urging Paramount to keep the episode available to viewers.

“[A]s someone who can speak with some authority on this, Charlie loved that he was featured in South Park. He told me many times. He would want the episode back up,” Kolvet said Wednesday.
