Starmer Constituency Office Move Foiled by Disability Organisation
Starmer’s constituency office is moving from Crowndale Centre in Camden Town and the PM’s team have been looking for new locations. A request was dispatched last month – just after Liz Kendall announced Labour’s welfare changes – to move to the Greenwood Centre 1.5 miles away over in Kentish Town. Local Camden press reports today that the Greenwood Centre happens to also be inhabited by the Camden Disability Action organisation as an “independent living centre.” It was asked for a view by Camden Council and submitted strong opposition from chair of trustees Paul Stack: “We would literally have clients distressed about what’s happened walking through the same doors as the people who’d actually introduced these cuts.” Starmer’s team then decided not to move in. Oops…
