A state trooper from the Texas Department of Public Safety stole the spotlight during the chaotic Texas A&M vs. South Carolina contest Saturday, resulting in him being removed from the game.

Texas A&M police removed a Texas state trooper from his game assignment following an incident in which he made physical contact with two South Carolina players during Saturday’s game.

Texas A&M Police later posted on social media that the trooper’s shift had been terminated for the day.
“We are aware of the incident in the NE tunnel involving a DPS trooper,” posted the department. “He has been relieved of his game day assignment.”
The Texas Department of Public Safety said in a social media statement that they were “aware of the incident that occurred today during the Texas A&M football game. The DPS Trooper involved was sent home from the game. Our Office of Inspector General (OIG) is also aware of the incident and will be further looking into the matter. No additional information will be released at this time.”
