White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller delivered a forceful rebuke of the press corps during Wednesday’s White House briefing, criticizing mainstream media outlets for what he described as their willful silence on violent crimes committed by illegal immigrants and their sympathetic coverage of foreign gang members.
In a direct confrontation with reporters, Miller accused several media outlets of ignoring the stories of American victims while providing cover for dangerous foreign nationals, including members of criminal organizations like Tren de Aragua and MS-13.
“It is a sad reflection on the state of our media and many of the outlets represented in this room,” Miller said, “that you obsessively try to shill for this MS-13 terrorist while no coverage occurred in your papers about any of the Americans that were raped and tortured and murdered by the illegals that Biden was importing into our country.”

Miller’s comments centered on the high-profile case involving two Venezuelan nationals affiliated with the Tren de Aragua gang.
The individuals were reportedly apprehended at the southern border but were later released under the Biden-Harris administration’s supervised release policy, including the use of ankle monitors.
Miller referenced the case of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray of Houston, Texas. The two Venezuelan nationals were later charged with her kidnapping, sexual assault, and murder.
“What was the result of that decision? What was the result of that choice that was made?” Miller asked.
“Those two men kidnapped a young girl named Jocelyn Nungaray from her family. They beat her, they sexually assaulted her, they tortured her, they stripped her, they murdered her, and they dumped her body. That is what the Biden administration’s policy was.”

Miller then sharply criticized the media for its coverage of the crime—or lack thereof.
“Most of your papers never covered her story when it happened,” he said.
“To the extent that you covered it at all, it was because President Trump forced you to cover it by highlighting it repeatedly over and over again. He had to shame you into covering it.”
He went on to accuse members of the press of being detached from the real-world consequences of the policies they defend in print and on air.
“Each and every one of you that sides over and over again with these MS-13 terrorists—to the extent that you had the financial means to do so—you all choose to live in condos or homes or houses as far away from these kinds of gang bangers as you possibly can,” Miller stated.
“If I offered any one of you a rent-free home with no taxes to pay in any of these gang neighborhoods… I couldn’t pay you to live there.”
“But yet you, with your coverage, are trying to force innocent Americans to have these people as their neighbors,” he continued.
“And that one day their daughter may be abducted from their home and raped and murdered.”
Miller concluded the briefing with a clear position on behalf of the Trump administration: “So you’re not gonna get an ounce of sympathy from this administration or President Trump for the terrorists who’ve invaded our homes and our country.”

The comments come as the administration continues to push forward with immigration enforcement efforts, including deportations of gang-affiliated individuals and increased coordination with local law enforcement in high-impact areas.
Jury selection for several pending criminal trials related to border crime is scheduled in the coming weeks.
The Biden-era policies regarding supervised release and catch-and-release programs remain under review by federal agencies, and the White House has yet to issue a formal response to the comments made during Wednesday’s briefing.
