Sunny Hostin Suggests She Had To Protect Son From Her Allegedly Racist White Neighbors

“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin suggested on Wednesday that she had to protect her son from getting harmed by allegedly racist white neighbors.

The co-hosts discussed the killing of Ajike “AJ” Owens, a black mother who was fatally shot by her white neighbor on June 2, 2023, which prompted Hostin to say that black children are often seen as a threat in neighborhoods. Hostin said that she once brought her son into the police station to ensure that they would not “harass” him if their neighbors reported him to authorities.

“As a mother of black children, I know that black boys are not given the presumption of innocence and the presumption of youth,” Hostin said. “She’s calling the police and saying they’re trying to steal her car and they’re 11 years old, they don’t know how to drive. And so for me, what was interesting was I have had to be in the position where I have gone to my local police department because I know my son is going to be training for the Junior Olympics running around the neighborhood in an all white neighborhood.”

“And I have brought him to the police and said, ‘he belongs to me. This is my son. Do not harass him. Do not stop him.’ So she was doing what so many black mothers do and she was killed for protecting her child,” Hostin continued. Hostin has repeatedly accused Republicans of being racist against black and Hispanic people. In November 2021, Hostin asserted that white women voted for Republican Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin so they could pretend slavery never happened.

The co-host also alleged that Republicans would never vote for Republican South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott as the 2024 presidential nominee because the party has a “real racism problem.” She also accused former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley of hiding her Indian heritage by using her nickname, despite the fact that Hostin does not go by her real name, Asuncion.

More recently, Hostin falsely accused President Donald Trump’s administration in February of ignoring illegal immigration coming from the U.S.-Canadian border because they are not Hispanic. More than half of the migrants who illegally cross the northern border are from Latin American and East Asian countries.

Hostin also suggested that former Vice President Kamala Harris lost the 2024 election for being a mixed-race woman. She complained about being stuck in America, calling it a “racist” country.

The co-host discovered in February 2024 that she is a descendant of Spanish slave owners who resided in Puerto Rico during an episode of PBS’ “Finding Your Roots.”
