Super Bowl Halftime Protester Arrested; Also Named ‘Victim’ In Shooting Case Involving Antonio Brown

Back in February, Los Angeles rapper Kendrick Lamar performed the halftime show for Super Bowl LIX, but stealing some headlines was 41-year-old protester Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu. While Lamar was performing, Nantambu took out a pro-Palestinian flag and Sudanese flag while on stage, pushing out the message “Sudan and Free Gaza.”

Fast forward five months, and Nantambu has now been arrested by Louisiana State Police, and they also revealed that he was named a “victim” in the shooting incident in Miami that involved ex-NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown.

“In coordination with the National Football League, troopers learned that Nantambu had permission to be on the field during the performance, but did not have permission to demonstrate as he did,” stated the Louisiana State Police regarding the Super Bowl halftime incident.

After Nantambu gave himself up, his booking proceedings took place in Orleans Parish Justice Center where he received resisting an officer and disturbing the peace charges following security trying to detain him as he was fleeing away in Caesars Superdome.

It was discovered in an investigation that hired performer Nantambu departed from the planned choreography so he could protest. When speaking to Al-Jazeera prior, he admitted that he was inspired by Islam.

In a separate case, former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown was hit with attempted murder charges after he allegedly fired a gun during a May confrontation at popular streamer Adin Ross’ boxing event in South Florida. Nantambu, who was at the scene of the alleged crime, told police that a bullet “grazed his neck.”
