‘Superman’ Star Valerie Perrine Dead At 82

“Superman” actress Valerie Perrine died Monday at her home in Los Angeles at the age of 82.

Her close friend, filmmaker Stacey Souther, confirmed the star’s death, according to TMZ. She noted that Perrine had battled Parkinson’s disease and was bedridden for the past ten years, although her exact cause of death was not disclosed.

The famous actress spent Sunday re-watching her movies, according to TMZ.  The outlet reported that the death of her co-star and beloved friend, Gene Hackman, really took a toll on her.

Perrine and Hackman starred alongside one another in the 1978 “Superman” film as well as 1980s “Superman II.”

Her other notable credits include “Lenny,” “What Women Want,” and “Silver Skies.” She also appeared on television in “Third Watch, “Walker, Texas Ranger,” “The Practice,” “Er,” “Nash Bridges,” and “Just Shoot Me!”

Perinne won the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress, and earned a BAFTA Award for Most Promising Newcomer. She was also and nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress over the course of her career in entertainment.

Her dying wish was to be buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills, according to TMZ.
