Sydney Sweeney Cast For Film Adaptation Of A Video Game

Actress Sydney Sweeney is slated to embark on a new adventure in the upcoming film adaptation of the hit video game “Split Fiction.”

“Deadpool and Wolverine” director Jon M. Chu and screenwriters from that film, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, are tapped for the new project, Variety reported Thursday. Sweeney fans will have to wait a bit longer to discover the movie’s anticipated release date. The project is still in its infancy, and Sweeney’s exact role has not yet been determined. Sources close to the situation told Variety that the famous actress is being considered for the roles of Zoe and Mio.

Variety reported that Sweeney is also set to executive produce.

The “Split Fiction” film will be produced by Mike Goldberg and Dmitri M. Johnson’s Story Kitchen, formerly known as dj2 Entertainment.

The “Split Fiction” game was released March 6 and became an instant hit. It centers around authors Mio and Zoe as they become trapped in the worlds they write. Zoe is an extroverted character, while Mio keeps to herself. The co-op adventure game features split-screen combat, challenges and characters with differing abilities.

The game reportedly sold more than two million copies in the first week following its launch, and has continued on an upward trajectory, according to Hazelight Games.
