The boss of leftist charity Oxfam was forced out over the weekend after almost 70 staff called for the trustees to investigate her for bullying. Some had already resigned over her leadership and there is an ongoing redundancy programme…
Halima Begum, whose career includes stints at DFID and various activist charities, was voted out of her chief executive position unanimously by Oxfam’s board of trustees. She has held it since March 2024. It said of an external report conducted into her conduct:
“The report’s findings have led the board to the conclusion that there is an irretrievable breakdown in its trust and confidence in Dr Begum’s ability to discharge the role of chief executive officer to the level required in Oxfam GB, and that her ongoing employment is untenable.”
Begum was paid over £130,000 a year. Oxfam, which typically receives between 5-10% of its funding from the UK taxpayer, rakes in £368 million annually. This is the latest in an almost-annual scandal to hit the leftist charity…
