The Money and Pensions Service – the quango that offers money and pension advice to the public – has spent a jaw-dropping sum on making life cosy for desk-bound staff working from home. Over the past three years, taxpayers have forked out £224,349 on home-working kit for the pen-pushers…
Broken down, the Money and Pensions Service splashed £59,658 in 2022/23, £103,604 in 2023/24, and £61,087 in 2024/25. With only 488 civil servants on the payroll as of March last year, that works out to more than £100 per staff member per year. For £224,349, you could:
- Fill 3,115 potholes.
- Hire 8 new civil servants at MaPS.
- Buy 12,463 24-hr Army ration packs.
