A Harris County judge is facing additional scrutiny after ordering an attorney to appear in court following criticism over a viral video that showed the judge berating a courtroom IT worker, as reported by The New York Post.
The dispute began after attorney James Stafford contacted Harris County Judge Nathan Milliron by email regarding the widely circulated footage.
Stafford said he came across the video on Reddit, where it showed Milliron speaking sharply to a technician who had been assisting with a computer issue in the courtroom, according to an email exchange obtained by Houston Public Media.

“I hope you issued him an apology for the way you treated him,” Stafford wrote in the email.
“I hope you were just having a bad day and this is not your typical judicial temperament. Have a great weekend.”
Milliron responded by accusing Stafford of engaging in improper communication and directed him to appear in court.
“You probably shouldn’t be communicating with a Judge, ex parte, on his judicial e-mail address. As an officer of this Court, you are ORDERED to appear before this Court on April 10, 2026 at 8:00 a.m. to discuss further.”

Stafford disputed that characterization in a follow-up message, stating he had no active cases before Milliron’s court. He wrote that the email did not qualify as improper contact and instead reflected a private citizen raising concerns.
“I have no cases in your Court, thus this is not ex parte but merely a voter exercising one’s freedom of speech concerning what some would consider offensive decorum in your courtroom.”
Stafford later told ABC13 he does not intend to appear as ordered, maintaining that his message falls outside the scope of ex parte communication rules.
The situation follows the release of a video that drew significant attention online. In the footage, Milliron appeared frustrated with an IT staffer who had been addressing an audio issue in the courtroom.
After the technician indicated the problem had been resolved and referred to it as a “false alarm,” Milliron became visibly irritated.
When the technician attempted to clarify by calling it a “false negative,” the judge responded curtly and instructed him to leave the courtroom.
After the worker exited, Milliron directed someone off camera to locate the technician’s supervisor. “Jesus Christ. I’m sick and tired of this bulls–t today,” he said in the video.
Additional footage surfaced Tuesday showing another exchange inside the courtroom. In that clip, Milliron interrupted a defense attorney during a hearing, telling her she was “wasting [his] time this morning.”
As the attorney attempted to continue her argument, Milliron denied the motion and ordered a deputy to remove her from the courtroom.
“Step away! You’re about to be cuffed!” he said while pointing at the attorney. “Jesus Christ, these people today,” he added as the exchange concluded.
Milliron has served as a judge in the 215th District Court since January 2025, according to ABC13.
The incident has prompted public reaction, though his position as an elected judge limits the ability of local court administrators to take disciplinary action.
Rabeea Collier, the civil court’s administrative judge, acknowledged the situation in a statement to Houston Public Media. She said the court is aware of the video and emphasized standards within the division.
“The Civil Trial Division is committed to maintaining a workplace grounded in respect and to upholding the integrity of the judicial process,” Collier said.
The matter remains ongoing as the court date approaches and additional attention continues to focus on the judge’s conduct.
