‘The View’ co-hosts are really upset that details about Biden’s decline have come to light

“The View” co-hosts were very unhappy on Tuesday as new details about former President Joe Biden’s physical and mental decline came to light.

CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson’s book, “Original Sin,” contains accounts from former White House aides, Democrat congressmen and other sources with direct knowledge about the deterioration of Biden’s health and the desperate attempt to hide his decline as he ran for reelection. The visibly frustrated co-hosts claimed that this information is irrelevant and that the focus should be on President Donald Trump’s agenda.

“Why is this important to know now?” co-host Whoopi Goldberg asked. “Because, it just seems to me, you know, we got a lot of stuff to be concerned about at the moment.”

“Here’s Trump’s atrocities, I’m gonna list them for you,” co-host Joy Behar said. “Cutting Medicaid, slashing money for cancer research, rising prices because of tariffs, dismantling USAID which helps children and people who are poor around the world, fears of recession, destroying due process, ending birthright citizenship … And not only that, but he also said that Joe Biden has Stage 9 cancer, oh really? Where did he come up with that? When is Jake Tapper going to write a book about the cognitive decline of the person who is in charge right now?”

Trump has vowed that Republicans will not cut Medicaid and is only ending birthright citizenship for children born to illegal immigrants. Despite imposing tariffs on nations, inflation has eased beyond economists’ expectations.

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, who showed some grace toward Tapper and Thompson, criticized the political left for only seeming to support the free press when they go after their opponents.

“But when they critically cover Democrats, they say ‘oh no, they’re lying, it’s fairy dust, it’s not true’ … With political figures who are coming out and attacking these two journalists, how is that pro-democracy, how is that pro-fourth estate?” Griffin said.

“But wait a second, I saw [Tapper] the other day and all he’s doing is hawking his book on CNN and he’s flanked by other people. Brian Stelter and Van Jones [are] also hawking his book, when did CNN become a place to hawk your book? Is Wolf Blitzer coming out with a cookbook?” Behar interrupted.

Goldberg jumped to Biden’s defense by saying he misspeaks because of his age and suggested that the former president maybe was not mentally declining. She questioned why several people who allegedly knew about Biden’s condition were silent throughout his administration.

“If you’re telling me that hundreds of people knew that he was unable to do his job, then where the hell was everybody?” Goldberg said.

Several congressional Democrats, members of the former president’s cabinet and previous White House aides were reportedly stunned by Biden’s declining physical and mental state, but nearly all of them refused to speak out publicly or stop him from running for reelection, according to Tapper and Thompson’s book. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries have refused to say whether they knew Biden was deteriorating, and instead stated that their party is “looking forward.”

Biden’s family and top aides insulated him from the public eye and from members of his own cabinet to ensure that he could successfully run for reelection. However, congressional Democrats began publicly calling on Biden to drop out of the 2024 race after his disastrous performance at the June 27, 2024, debate, where he spoke with a raspy voice and appeared confused.

The former president’s personal physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, warned his aides that Biden may have to be placed in a wheelchair following his fall in June 2023 where he tripped over a sandbag, according to Axios, citing Tapper and Thompson’s book. Knowing this would be a bad political look, his aides made the effort to prevent Biden from falling during public events.

Biden reportedly did not even recognize his longtime acquaintance, Hollywood actor George Clooney, during a campaign fundraiser in June 2024, according to Axios. Clooney was reportedly “shaken to the core” by Biden’s appearance and mental capacity when he saw him that night.

The former president has been diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer that has metastasized to the bones. Medical professionals and oncologists have said that Biden definitely had the cancer while he was president as it takes time to advance to its current stage.

Before the election, Tapper helped to discredit anyone who suggested that Biden was suffering from a mental decline.
