Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk said Thursday that despite the public rift between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, he believes the two influential figures will eventually reconcile because they want the same thing.
Tensions between Trump and Musk erupted Thursday as the two traded attacks and financial threats in a public clash. During an appearance on “The Ingraham Angle,” Kirk weighed in on the feud and said he believes the two will reconcile at some point.
“I actually think they’re going to reconcile at some point, though, because, deep down, I would like to believe they both want the same thing. But we must be very clear, though, that what President Trump wants in this bill, because that really was the forcing function of this kind of this feud and this schism, is exactly what he ran on,” Kirk said.

“This was never an omnibus bill. This was not some sort of big, bloated bill. Instead, it is no tax on tips. The best border security we’ve ever seen, growing ICE agents, where ICE agents have not seen any sort of personnel increase of headcount since their original charter in nearly 20 years,” Kirk added. “We’re going to see amazing energy independence, tax on remittances, asylum claim fees. We’re going to finally be able to finance mass deportations. We’re going to see a bottom-up middle-class revolution, a blue-collar revolution that we saw under Trump one.”
Kirk praised both men.
“It’s been hard to watch today and unfortunate in some regards. And I love your take, which is both of these men deserve great credit for their contributions to help save civilization. Elon Musk bought Twitter, which, of course, became X a couple years ago, which liberated speech. And then, of course, President Trump built the most amazing political movement we’ve ever seen. He was shot, almost shot again,” Kirk said. “He was impeached twice. He was facing 700 years in federal prison, and he was so clear about not surrendering and not backing down and not giving up. I will say it’s a tough thing to watch this public feud.”
Trump said Musk turned on his bill only after learning it scrapped the EV mandate, hinting the feud stems from financial interests rather than principle. Musk fired back on X, denying what Trump said and insisted he never saw the bill, which he said was rushed through Congress “in the dead of night.”
Trump appointed Musk to lead the Department of Government Efficiency shortly after his 2024 election win, tasking the billionaire with executing his pledge to slash wasteful federal spending. Musk announced at the end of May that his scheduled tenure as a special government employee had ended, capping a controversial run that drew fierce Democratic opposition—especially after his team moved to eliminate the U.S. Agency for International Development.
