Fox News host Greg Gutfeld criticized Democratic leaders Monday during a segment of The Five, saying the United States is undergoing an “intervention” in response to the fallout from the illegal immigration crisis that escalated under the Biden-Harris administration.
During the discussion, Gutfeld addressed the recent backlash from Democrats over renewed enforcement of immigration law under President Donald Trump, particularly as protests and demonstrations continue in major sanctuary cities such as Los Angeles.
“You can’t have free stuff and no border. I think we can all agree that borders are important,” Gutfeld said.
“The problem is we all didn’t agree that borders were important. We just experienced a systematic removal of our border under people who claim to be the Biden-Harris administration, though we’re not sure who they are. So now they’re criticizing the process of removal?”

The segment focused on the ongoing enforcement actions under President Trump’s administration and Democratic opposition to increased immigration arrests and deportations.
“No, we don’t have to listen to you. I can listen to Harold because, Harold, you talked about the need for a border. But a lot of these people, they didn’t. Now, you know, this attack over process camouflages the rejection of the goal. So now the adults are in charge, and they’re rescuing the country. It’s like Trump boarded a ship and is sealing a gaping hole,” Gutfeld added.
Border security remains a top concern among voters after a series of high-profile incidents drew national attention to crimes committed by illegal migrants.

The deaths of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungary, 22-year-old Laken Riley, and 37-year-old Rachel Morin in 2024 contributed to growing demands for stricter enforcement of immigration laws.
Under the Biden-Harris administration, border crossings surged to historic highs, with monthly encounters at the southern border reaching nearly 160,000 and daily averages peaking around 15,000.
In contrast, since President Trump returned to office, illegal border crossings have sharply declined. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has reported more than 100,000 detentions of illegal migrants since January.
“This is an intervention. We have to do this,” Gutfeld said.
“If this border crisis hadn’t happened, this would be a different discussion. But now we’re doing this. It’s dramatic. It’s forceful.”
He further accused Democrats of being disengaged from the victims of crimes committed by illegal immigrants and the trafficking of minors, stating, “But we couldn’t get the Democrats to listen. And now they’re engaged, but they’re not engaged over the victims of illegal aliens or the missing sex traffic kids. They’re upset that someone won’t wipe their ass. Or, in Jerry Nadler’s case, people won’t wipe their ass.”
Democratic leaders have increasingly criticized Trump’s new deportation initiatives, which include large-scale operations targeting migrants who entered the country illegally during the Biden presidency.
Among those facing deportation is Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, whose case has been highlighted by Democrats as they voice opposition to mass detention.
In May, Democratic Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested during a protest outside an immigration detention center while attempting to join an oversight tour with three congressional Democrats.
The situation escalated, and New Jersey Democratic Rep. LaMonica McIver was later charged by federal prosecutors with assaulting federal officers during the incident.
As the administration ramps up deportation efforts, Trump officials say the goal is to restore law and order and reestablish the rule of law along the southern border.
ICE has not released further details on upcoming operations but confirmed that enforcement actions will continue as part of the broader immigration initiative.
