Hamas released a disturbing propaganda video Friday showing 24-year-old Israeli hostage Evyatar David, visibly emaciated and digging what he says may be his own grave.
The nearly five-minute clip, shared by Hamas, shows David in a cramped tunnel scratching days off a calendar. At one point, he’s handed a can of beans, which he says is meant to last two days. “This is the grave I think I’m going to be buried in,” he says. “Time is running out.” (RELATED: Video Appears To Show Hamas Terrorists Kidnapping Israeli Hostages On Oct. 7)

David was abducted by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023. His family, who approved the video’s release, described it as “one of the most horrifying acts the world has seen.”

“We are forced to witness our beloved son and brother … deliberately and cynically starved in Hamas’s tunnels in Gaza — a living skeleton, buried alive,” the David family said in a statement shared by the Hostages Families Forum.

“Hamas’s cruelty knows no bounds,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said. “While the State of Israel allows the entry of humanitarian aid to the residents of Gaza, Hamas terrorists deliberately starve our hostages, document them in a cynical, degrading, and evil manner. They are also starving the residents of the Strip – deliberately. They prevent them from receiving aid, then lie to the world and run a false propaganda campaign against Israel.”

Naftali Fürst, a Holocaust survivor, drew chilling parallels to her time in Auschwitz. “We were so hungry, we would even eat grass,” the 93-year-old said, the New York Post reported. “I remember the humiliation — the complete stripping of human dignity.”
The only people being deliberately starved and tortured in Gaza are the hostages held in Hamas’ dungeons.

U.S. lawmakers, including Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) and Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY), denounced the video and reiterated calls for Hamas to release all hostages and end the conflict.
I had the honor to meet with his family in my office. I cannot even begin to imagine the horror of this video for them.
I continue to stand with these families and every last hostage.

This is vile. Where are all those demanding Israel end this war now? Where are all those decrying the humanitarian crisis now? The only entity for the devastation that has been inflicted upon innocent Israelis and Palestinians is Hamas. Period. Full stop. https://t.co/oGJiKhrWe8

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said, “Despicable, unbearable images of Israeli hostages held for 666 days in Gaza by Hamas. Their ordeal must end. They must be released, without condition. Hamas must be disarmed and excluded from the governance of Gaza. Humanitarian aid must enter there massively.”
