‘This is your favorite president’

Dilbert creator Scott Adams responded to the breaking news that former President Joe Biden has metastatic prostate cancer by announcing he too has an aggressive form of the disease and expects to live just a few more months.

A wave of sympathy and well wishes followed, including a call from President Donald J. Trump — not that Adams immediately understood that POTUS was calling.

“Somebody calls me from a number I don’t recognize… And I sent him to voicemail,” he said on his podcast.

Adams went on to say that the first sentence in the voicemail transcription was, “This is your favorite president.”

He then asked with a laugh, “Did I just send the most important person in the world to voicemail?”

Yes. Yes he did.

Adams said in response to Biden’s revelation, “I have the same cancer that Joe Biden has. I also have prostate cancer that has also spread to my bones, but I’ve had it longer than he’s had it — well longer than he’s admitted having it…  I expect to be checking out from this domain sometime this summer.”

“I’d like to extend my respect and compassion for the ex-president and his family because they’re going through an especially tough time,” Adams added. “It’s a terrible disease.”

As for his diagnosis, Adams said “there’s only one direction this goes now.”

“If you’re wondering if I’ll get better, the answer is no, it will only get worse,” he shared.

David Limbaugh, brother of the great Rush Limbaugh, weighed in to say the president’s actions here is “vintage Trump,” before sharing his own story.

“This is vintage Trump, showing his awesome humanity, kindness, and compassion in a way that radically contradicts the false public image imposed on him by the Democrats, the Legacy Media, and other Trump haters,” he posted on X. “I just love this story.”

“Interestingly, President Trump called me before he gave Rush the Medal of Freedom, just to check on Rush, etc. He couldn’t have been more gracious, and through it all — despite the terrible tragedy of Rush’s diagnosis — Trump kept it real, even showing his inimitable sense of humor in the call and lightening (by distraction) the subject as only he can,” Limbaugh added.

Here’s a quick sampling of other responses to the story from X:
