Three people were killed and eight others wounded early Sunday morning after gunfire erupted inside a Crown Heights lounge in Brooklyn, according to police.
The shooting broke out around 3:27 a.m. at Taste of the City, a club located at 903 Franklin Avenue. Responding officers arrived within minutes to find multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. In total, 11 victims were identified, ranging in age from 27 to 61. (RELATED: REPORT: Manhattan Gunman Had Two ‘Unresolved’ Background Checks When He Purchased Gun Used In Shooting)
Three men — ages 27, 35, and another whose age has not yet been confirmed — were pronounced dead. Eight additional victims, including both men and women, were rushed to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Their names have not been released.
Investigators said a dispute inside the lounge sparked the violence. Multiple shooters are believed to have opened fire, and authorities recovered 36 shell casings from a variety of firearms. A gun was also found near the scene, though it remains unclear if it was used in the attack.
No arrests have been made as of Sunday. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses as the investigation continues.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch described the incident as an anomaly, saying that overall shootings in New York City are at historic lows. She said that the same location had previously been the site of another shooting in November 2024, though that incident was non-fatal.
“This was a terrible tragedy,” Tisch said. “We’re going to investigate and get to the bottom of what went down.”
