The confrontation escalated into a physical attack that was captured on video and later circulated widely online.
Footage aired by KTVU shows three individuals, all wearing black T-shirts, repeatedly striking a person who is on the ground. The video has been a central piece of evidence as investigators review the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Police said in an earlier statement that “The victims alleged that the suspects used antisemitic language during the altercation,” noting that the case is being examined for potential hate crime charges.
Additional details about the incident were provided by Jewish Silicon Valley CEO Daniel Klein, who spoke to KTVU about what occurred.
“While they were waiting for their table, three people came up to them out of nowhere and knocked one of the victims out cold, and then three of them jumped on top of the other victim,” Klein said.
Both victims were identified as Israeli-American men. One of the victims was reportedly knocked unconscious during the attack. The extent of their injuries has not been fully detailed by authorities.
