Joe Exotic’s husband has been deported to Mexico following his release from a Texas prison.
Jorge Marquez Flores, 33, was transferred to an ICE detention facility shortly after his release and deported just hours later, according to a representative for the imprisoned reality star, TMZ reported. The deportation came one day after Joe Exotic announced on social media that Flores had been taken to an immigration hearing to determine whether he could remain in the United States or be sent back to Mexico. “Never been more proud of someone. Meet my husband, Jorge Flores Maldonado,” Exotic wrote earlier this year after the couple wed behind bars in April. The two reportedly got engaged in October 2024, with Joe frequently posting about their relationship online.

Flores had been incarcerated for immigration-related offenses. His husband Joe Exotic — whose real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage — is currently serving a 21-year sentence for his role in a murder-for-hire plot against animal rights activist Carole Baskin, as well as multiple wildlife violations.
Exotic has previously voiced concerns over Flores’ immigration status, claiming the couple was pursuing asylum in the U.S. Despite those efforts, the attempt appears to have failed, resulting in Flores’ removal from the country.
In past interviews and social media posts, Joe suggested that the pair planned to leave the United States altogether once both had served their respective sentences.
The “Tiger King” saga rose to national attention at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when Netflix’s documentary series captivated millions with its bizarre tale of big cats, criminal plots and chaotic relationships. Joe’s latest personal drama now adds another chapter to a saga that refuses to fade from the public eye.
Joe Exotic has not issued a follow-up statement regarding Flores’ deportation.
